"These first three were all taken at "The Firs" in Berry Hill. The back garden now where my Grandfather used to grow his vegetables, is now a service station, or so I have been told. Uncle Clarence, who still lives in the house, has me sitting on his lap wearing a mop, which he must have thought would have improved my appearance."

"My late mother was born in Clearwell along with her brothers and sisters. About twelve in all, and lived in the cottage up on the hill overlooking the children's park. Although the cottage has long since gone and only a few bits of stone remain ,it still brings a lump to our throats remembering the happy times we had all those years ago" "The Allfords lived throughout the village, Thom, Ambrie, Millie, Harry, Lucy & George." "Although my mother left in the early twenties to work in service in Manchester she always yearned to go back to the village and would use any excuse to do just that"
